Food & Nutrition

Here at Riverdale we believe in providing a positive eating environment that reflects dietary requirements, culture, family values, growth and development and promoting lifelong learning for children, as we commit to implementing and embedding the healthy eating key messages outlined in the Australian Dietary Guidelines.

We offer both a seasonal Winter and Summer menu on a four week rotation running from Spring to Summer (Summer menu) and Autumn to Winter (Winter menu).

We aim to cater for all dietary requirements, daily vegetarian meal options are available in each room. Should your child have any specific dietary requirements, we will always do our best to accommodate your child’s needs.

“All children should have the basic nutrition they need to learn and grow and to pursue their dreams, because, in the end, nothing is more important than the health and well-being of our children.”

– Michelle Obama

Meet Jackie

Jackie is our much-loved Food Coordinator who has been preparing and serving nutritious meals to generations of children over the past 24 years. During this time, she has become a valued and familiar part of our centre community. Jackie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role, supported by many qualifications she has completed throughout the years. Her dedication to providing healthy, balanced meals helps support the growth, wellbeing, and energy of the children in our care.

Working from her onsite kitchen located within our Echidnas room, Jackie is often seen through the kitchen viewing panels as she prepares the day’s meals. This has become a special part of the children’s daily routine, as they love stopping to wave and say hello while passing by. Jackie always returns their smiles and waves, creating a warm and friendly connection with the children. Her presence not only ensures that mealtimes are nutritious and well organised, but also adds to the welcoming, family-like atmosphere that our centre is so proud of.
